How It Works

Three Tests. Clear Answers.

Each test is designed to give you data your scale, wearable, doctor, or trainer cannot. One visit. The complete picture.

DEXA Body Composition
1

DEXA Body Composition

See fat, muscle, and bone—exactly where they're changing. The clinical picture your scale can't show.

±2%
Measurement accuracy—versus 10%+ error from smart scales and bioelectrical impedance devices
VO2 Max Test
2

VO2 Max Test

The strongest predictor of how long—and how well—you'll live. Measured directly, not estimated by a wearable.

Mortality gap between the least-fit and most-fit individuals—JAMA 2018, 122,007-patient study
RMR Metabolic Test
3

RMR Metabolic Test

Know exactly what your body burns before you move a muscle. Build nutrition on real numbers—not generic estimates.

200+
Calorie difference between estimated and measured RMR—enough to stall any weight loss or gain plan

WHO'S IT FOR

EVERYONE.

Lose Weight

Stop guessing.
Start knowing.

Visceral Fat Risk
+55%
Higher cardiovascular risk from elevated visceral fat. Your scale can't see it.
Weight loss & GLP-1 users

You don't have a weight problem. You might have a composition problem.

Your scale can't tell you if you lost fat or muscle. We can.
On GLP-1? Roughly 1 in 3 pounds lost is lean mass. Know if you're in that range.
Smart scales carry a 10%+ error margin. DEXA is the clinical gold standard.

Live Longer

Wearables measure signal.
We measure structure.

VO2 Max Mortality Edge
Least-fit vs. most-fit mortality gap. JAMA 2018, Mandsager et al.
Longevity & health optimization

You track the signals. Now add the structural layer.

Visceral fat carries 55% higher cardiovascular risk. Your BMI cannot see it. We can.
VO2 Max outpredicted smoking, diabetes, and hypertension in a 122,007-patient study.
Your year-old test is interpreted with more intelligence today than when you took it.

Build & Perform

Train with precision.
Measure with it too.

Lean Muscle Precision
±0.5%
DEXA regional lean mass accuracy. No wearable or scale comes close.
Athletes, gym-goers & competitors

Because 'Good Enough' doesn't win. Measure the margin.

VO2 Max: the performance ceiling your wearable estimates. We measure it directly.
Regional lean mass by limb and trunk—the clinical edge your competition doesn't have.
RMR tells you what your body actually burns. Fuel training with data, not estimates.

Women's Health

Your body is changing.
The data explains why.

Lean Mass Maintained
96%
DexaFit members preserved lean mass—even through hormonal change.
Perimenopause & hormonal change

The most important changes are the ones you can't see.

Menopause shifts fat to visceral. No mirror or BMI catches it. DEXA does.
Bone density decline accelerates around menopause. An 8-minute test gives you a number you can act on.
Your metabolism changes in perimenopause. RMR testing shows exactly how much.

Men's Health

What gets measured
gets managed.

Visceral Fat Risk
+55%
Higher cardiovascular risk from elevated visceral fat—common in men with normal BMI.
Men's health & performance

The midsection that hides on the scale shows up on DEXA.

Men store fat viscerally—the dangerous kind around your organs. DEXA quantifies it directly.
Lean mass declines roughly 1% per year after 30. Know your starting line before it slips.
Cardio fitness predicts longevity more than smoking or BMI. VO2 Max tells you where you stand.

Common Questions

You'll arrive, check in, and move through your selected tests in a single visit. The DEXA scan takes around 8 minutes and requires no preparation beyond removing metal objects. VO2 Max and RMR each take 15 to 20 minutes. At the end of your appointment, a staff member walks you through your results and explains what each number means for your health and goals.
A full bundle—DEXA, VO2 Max, and RMR—runs approximately 60 to 75 minutes from start to finish. Individual tests are shorter. Plan for at least 30 minutes even for a standalone DEXA to allow time for check-in and your results review.
For the DEXA scan, avoid eating a large meal or intense exercise in the 3 hours before. For VO2 Max and RMR, avoid caffeine and significant physical activity for at least 4 hours prior—both tests measure your body at a baseline state and are affected by recent stimulants or exertion. You'll receive a detailed preparation guide by email after booking.
DEXA uses a low-dose dual-energy X-ray to separate your body into three tissue types: fat mass, lean muscle mass, and bone mineral density. It reports results regionally—arms, legs, trunk, and android/gynoid zones—so you see not just how much fat you carry, but where. Visceral fat (the metabolically active fat around your organs) is flagged separately. Total radiation exposure is roughly equivalent to a cross-country flight.
You wear a fitted mask and perform a progressively harder protocol on a stationary bike or treadmill. The mask captures the oxygen you inhale and the carbon dioxide you exhale at each intensity level. The test ends when you reach your maximum aerobic effort. Unlike wearable estimates, this is a direct measurement—the same protocol used by elite sports teams and clinical research.
Your results load into the DexaFit ai app immediately after testing. A staff member reviews them with you in person before you leave, walking through what each metric means and how you compare to age- and sex-matched norms. Your data stays in the app for future reference and is available to share with your doctor, trainer, or dietitian.
Most people retest every 3 to 6 months when actively working toward a goal—weight loss, muscle gain, performance improvement—and annually for a general health baseline. Retesting is where DexaFit delivers its greatest value: seeing exactly how your body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, and metabolism have changed in response to your efforts.
Yes. DEXA uses very low-dose X-ray—the radiation exposure is minimal, roughly comparable to sitting outside for a few hours. The scan is non-invasive, painless, and takes about 8 minutes. It is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant, as a precaution.
